Grower & Wine Maker
Jackson is the son of Allen and Sally Holstein and husband to Ayla Holstein. Having grown up on the Holstein vineyard, in the midst of local wine experts, Jackson learned the craft and science of winemaking at a young age. After working in wineries and vineyards alongside his father, Jackson enrolled at Oregon State University to study Natural Resource Management & Ecology. Both stages of Jackson’s education served him well as he went on to work in local and international wine cellars, eventually settling in as a vineyard manager for Advanced Vineyard Systems. For two years, he oversaw the operations of multiple Willamette Valley farms. Jackson officially launched Granville Wine Co. in 2014, and in 2016 focused his career on the stewardship of Holstein Vineyard–his family’s 10.5 acres.
Owner & General Manager
Ayla is a native Oregonian, raised in Dundee and wife to Jackson Holstein. She studied Economics at Linfield College, however, shortly after graduation the opportunity presented itself to work in the wine industry as a harvest intern at Belle Pente Vineyard. Since then, Ayla has spent time working in international cellars and as the wine director for local restaurants all the while maintaining administrative and winemaking duties for Granville Wine Co. While growing the family wines, Ayla remains involved in her community through her service on numerous local community boards.
Founder & Grower
Allen is the founder of the Holstein Vineyard and the father of Jackson Holstein. He first arrived in the Willamette Valley in 1978 to study horticulture at Oregon State University. Upon completing school, Allen first became vineyard manager for Dick Erath and subsequently spent the next 40 years as a vineyard manager while establishing the estate vineyards for Argyle, Stoller, and Domaine Drouhin Oregon. After retiring in 2017, he has settled into a less demanding role at Granville Wine Co as historian, part time grower, industry spokesman, and most importantly “Grandpa”.
