Ruben

Originally planted in 1972, Holstein Vineyard was one of the earliest planted vineyards in the Dundee Hills. Home to own-rooted Pommard & Wädenswil clones until the first phylloxera was found in 1990. Since then, the vineyard has been incrementally replanted onto rootstock with an assortment of clones. Present day vine-age range from 17-32 years old. The site itself is uniquely situated on the eastern edge of the Dundee Hills at an elevation ranging from 615 to 720 feet. Portions of the vineyard face all directions, allowing for diversity and unique tendencies from each block. The soil beneath us is classified as Jory – rich in both iron and clay with fractured basalt bedrock underneath. All these qualities and more are part of what makes this place so special and capable of growing world class pinot noir.

Koosah Vineyard

Koosah Vineyard is farmed Biodynamically at a high elevation of 700 to 1100 feet, the highest elevation in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. Kevin and Carla Chambers sold their first vineyard (in Yamhill-Carlton) to Résonance Winery in 2013, and then they planted Koosah, eventually selling this vineyard as well to Résonance after years of producing award-winning fruit. Granville sources both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from this special site, farmed regeneratively since it was planted. The Chardonnay is planted at the steepest site at the top of the vineyard. The high elevation and exposure to coastal winds creates beautiful, complex fruit.

Temperance Hill Vineyard

Temperance Hill was first planted in 1981 on what was believed to be remnants of an ancient volcano. The vineyard has been managed by Dai Crisp since 1999, who implemented organic farming techniques and became certified in 2012, and certified Salmon Safe in 2005. Granville sources two acres exclusively from the “North Block” of the property which sits at 820 ft elevation with both pommard and dijon clone 777.

Knudsen Vineyard

The fruit that allows Granville’s “Old Vine” Pinot Noir to create a following.

Managing Knudsen Vineyard was one of his father’s first jobs in the Oregon wine industry in the 1970s, so making wine from this fruit means coming full circle for Jackson.

Knudsen Vineyard has been a flagship vineyard for Argyle Winery since 1987, and is now run by a second generation of the Knudsen family. The 130-acre vineyard in the heart of the Dundee Hills AVA includes a mix of old-vine blocks and new high-density blocks planted with Old World Dijon clones. Granville’s Old Vine Pinot Noir is sourced from Block 2, Pommard clone Pinot planted in 1974 and still own-rooted.
